Feline Friday: Cats on alert

Romeo & Duke Yes, it’s another Feline Friday. And, yes, it’s Romeo and Duke firmly planted on our table, carefully watching me slurp through a bowl of chicken soup. It was, if I’m not mistaken, meal #4 from a Costco baked chicken, three dinners and a lunch. There was enough soup for another night’s dinner, and a one-person lunch.

I have to admit that I did offer the boys a few bits of chicken as I worked through the bowl of soup. Intermittent reinforcement kept them watching for more.

It’s been an uneventful week on the cat front. Annie got an antibiotic shot last week, which has slowed her down a bit. Romeo’s been keeping a watch for possible outside cats, but doesn’t seem to have had any sightings. He has also been joyfully playing with a new cat toy delivered by our cat sitter when we were in Vancouver. At odd times, the thumps and meows announce that he’s pulled the toy out and is chasing it around the room. It’s good to see him actively playing like this. None of the other cats wants to play with him, and I’m guessing that’s frustrating.

People food has recently been a necessity for our cat, if he is to leave me alone.
This is really bugging me as he is constantly underfoot in the kitchen. Just a couple of bites and he is satisfied, however……sandwich meat, chicken, beef, pork, whatever….and some with spices I would think he would turn his nose up at. Interesting, as I think he is about 15 and never had people food before.
