We visited Las Vegas several times over the years for Meda’s sociology or criminology conferences, but since we’re not gamblers, we seem to have made more frequent visits back when hotel rooms and meals were far cheaper than they are today.
This photo of us was taken in March 1996 at the Golden Nugget downtown, where the Western Society of Criminology was meeting. I can sort of recall the conference, maybe the only one we attended that was held in a downtown casino hotel.
This was just several months after we had started our daily 3-mile walks. We usually walk at dawn, although cold weather on the mainland often forces an adjustment in our routine.
I like the way the mirrors lets both of us appear.
I thought Meda might be wearing a badge from the conference, but enlarge the photo and you’ll see it’s an artistic cat pin.

I like the way you and Meda always seem to enjoy doing things together. That’s what marriage/partnership is all about.
