Here’s a Feline Friday look into a typical night in our house.

I was settling down to go to sleep a couple of nights ago as the cats took the cue and starting taking their positions on the bed as well. So I popped back up and returned, camera in hand, and turned the lights up enough to get a few pictures.
Here’s the scene. It usually starts with Duke, who is waiting when I get to the bedroom. Romeo follows me in and waits on the floor by the side of the bed for me to lift him up and deposit him somewhere in Duke’s vicinity. Once the three of us are settling in, Ms. Annie arrives and tests whether the boys are mellowed out enough to let her stay. Otherwise, she makes a tour of the bed and then steps off onto the cat tree. And Toby typically arrives later, under cover of darkness.
I don’t know how we all manage to fit. We don’t have a king size bed, nor a queen. It’s a basic old full size, once called a “double” bed when they were considered big enough for the normal couple. There is a lot of fussing when people change position during the night, but cats like to sleep and they mostly roll with it all.
And so it goes.
I’m thinking that Romeo has lost too much weight on our long-term diet, and am thinking about shifting him back to higher calorie food. I know he’s healthy, but I would like to see him a bit heftier. We’ll see.

What a luxury to have a bed so well stocked with heater cats. To keep warm on those cold nights, why you just throw on another heater cat!
The lovely wife and I have to make do with a single heater cat, but he’s plumb, plush, and snuggly and does a fine job of keeping us both warm.
I think they’re on the forefront of renewable energy. They soak up the sun during the day, and release the heat at night in bed. An efficient energy system, those heater cats!
