We will be on a United flight to SFO by the time this is posted this morning, en route to the Western Society of Criminology meetings in Las Vegas. Unlike many people we know, Vegas isn’t a treat for us. In the old days, you could just enjoy the things that were cheap–food, drinks, and hotel rooms. No more of that! So I’ll hibernate while Meda conferences, then we forage for cheap eats. That will likely take some hunting!
I should be back posting by Wednesday morning at the latest.

Cheap food is easy to find in Vegas – the challenge is finding cheap, GOOD food.
$6.69 Smoke Shack at Shake Shack, The Park @ New York, New York
For those who never stop being on a budget, the arrival of this NYC (and, these days, many other cities) better-than-fast-food staple has been a dream come true — even when you splurge, it’s easy to get out the door here for less than $15. If you’ve never tried it, order the Smoke Shack, a burger topped with bacon, spicy red peppers, cheese and Shack sauce. It’s kind of the best.
3790 Las Vegas Blvd.
If this isn’t cheap, Ian, I give up.
It’s easy to find cheap food in Vegas – the trick is finding GOOD cheap food. The Smoke Shack sounds like a good combo – on our list for “next time.”
If you have time & a rental car, these were some of my favorite restaurants during my time living in Las Vegas. Safe travels and have fun on the 9th island.
