This photo featuring the boys, Duke and Romeo, is my favorite shot of the week. It says so much about how they’ve bonded since Kili died nearly two years ago.

This scene is now repeated many times in the course of a typical week.

But this wasn’t a typical week. This was Romeo’s week for dental surgery. His top left “canine” was loose and had to come out, and it turned out two other teeth were extracted at the same time. Two, including that canine, had areas of infection around them. Poor guy, no wonder he’s been feeling a little puny.

We picked him up around 4:30 yesterday afternoon, and although a little wobbly from the anesthetic, he did have an appetite. Per instructions, I only gave him a small serving for dinner, just a third of what he might normally eat. He polished that off, and later I served a little more.

He has pain pills to last for several days. I’ll have to figure out if he’ll eat one in a pill pocket. That would make it much easier! We’ll see.
