Another Veterans Day memory

It was November 11, 2010, Veterans Day, that we scattered my dad’s ashes into the ocean out in front of the Ala Wai Boat Harbor. Canoes from the Waikiki Surf Club, of which he was a co-founder, carried him on this last journey, accompanied by his own boat, the Nadu K-2, and a couple of others.

It was a beautiful afternoon. He would have enjoyed it.

“Goodbye, John,” Wally Froiseth said simply as he cast a final handful of flowers into the water.
