Inventing masks

I’ve been so impressed by all the originality in the design of masks to be sewn at home, and even no-sewing-necessary mask designs being shared online.

This design was inspired by the Facebook post by an old acquaintance here in Honolulu. He did a more elegant job than my quick-and-dirty effort.

No, I take that back. It was nice and clean and freshly washed. Really. No quick-and-dirty involved.

No mask? Okay. What if you just have to make do with what you’ve got laying around?

This one is pretty simple, made from readily available materials. First, take a pair of (do I have to say “clean”?) underwear. Stick your head into the drawers until you pop out through a leg hole. Then arrange as required to cover nose and mouth. Pull elastic waistband up from behind to cover your head. Then pull tongue out of cheek, as necessary.

Ian: I think you should make a video of yourself putting this rig together and getting into costume. (Make sure you maintain the deadly seriousness on display in the photo.) It could make you a youtube sensation and draw a lot of traffic to the blog. Some people may be expecting something else and be disappointed with all the chatter about politics and stuff, but who knows?
    Cheers.

Never mind. I just checked & it’s already been done by others…hundreds of thousands of youtube views. You snooze, you lose, I guess.
