Speaking of journalism….I’ve been cleaning up old files, including my browser bookmarks. That led me to rediscover some old favorites from years ago.
I regret never having had the pleasure of meeting newspaper researcher Liz Donovan, although following her several blogs made me feel like we were old friends. I learned a lot from her many tales told, experiences shared. Research techniques. Approaches to problem solving. Ways of seeing and searching.
Liz died on December 9, 2008, just ten days after the final post on her “Behind the News” blog.
Her personal blogs live on.
Infomaniac/Behind the News.
About the news, the Net, blogs and journalism, new media, news research and other things I like, from a veteran news researcher with stops in DC, Miami and now the Southern Highlands of Appalachia.Southern Highlands Cam

Check them out. You’ll be glad you did.
I also recommend this column in which she described her career as a news researcher “From Watergate to Whitewater: 20-Odd years in News Research.” It is a really good read.
And her obituaries capture an image of her as a person, as a life lived, and a reflection of all going on around her during that time.
Miami Herald, December 10, 2008.
And from the Washington Post, reprinted by the San Diego Union Tribune, “Obituary: Liz Donovan; news researcher for Woodward, Bernstein.”
