Thanksgiving marked the end of Week #9 since The-Cat-Now-Known-As-Kali joined our family.
Kali is pretty settled in at this point, with just fine tuning going on the past couple of weeks.
Two things I noticed in week 9. First, Romeo has perfected his cringe-and-go reaction to Kali’s occasional swats in his direction. He sort of hunkers down, lowers his head, lets her do her thing, then goes on with his life. He doesn’t respond aggressively. Really, he barely responds at all, except to shrink a little bit to reduce his profile as a target. And she doesn’t extend any of these fleeting interactions, which are thankfully becoming less and less frequent.
The other noticeable change is that Kali periodically trots out through the living room and kitchen as she has for a number of weeks, but now she’s likely to jump onto one of the chairs, doing a quick bit of cleaning, and then settle in for a while, keeping track of us and whatever else is going on in the room. Previously she would venture out but retreat into her “safe” room, the spare room where we kept her isolated for most of her first two weeks.
The disappointing this is that Kali and Romeo haven’t gotten into the buddy-buddy thing. Although they may end up close to one another once or twice a day, its by accident, or because the sun is only shining in a small area, forcing them to share.
Anyway, enjoy the week’s photos!

“First, Romeo has perfected his cringe-and-go reaction to Annie’s occasional swats in his direction.”
You meant Kali, right? I was a bit confused at first.
Absolutely. We see many similarities between Kali’s “attitude” and that of her predecessor, Ms. Annie. So what do you can a “slip of the tongue” when typing?
