Here’s a bit of nostalgia. My mother took these photos of May Day pageantry at Kahala Elementary School over several years (1957-1959). Our class graduated from the 6th grade at Kahala in 1959.
I should have tracked these photos down in time for yesterday’s May Day celebrations, but didn’t get around to it.
I do see myself in several of these photos, and recognize some others, but haven’t had time to go back and add captions.
In any case, step back into the past for a few moments.

Good stuff!! Some great classic cars in the pics. Oh wait…they weren’t “classic” back then 😉
Thanks for sharing!
The color is so good they could have been taken yesterday. Newest car I could find was a ‘55 Ford Wagon.
The photos are wonderful! The color is excellent for their age. Did you scan or color correct?
These are scans of Kodachrome slides, if I recall correctly. I did a little bit of correcting color, etc., but not a whole lot. These just survived in surprisingly good shape.
I love how they had a different theme every year; one year Hawaiian, then Japanese, then Portuguese. I had a lot of friends who went to Kahala Elementary and I was jealous (as a kid) that they got to go to school so close. The car pool to Punahou everyday was a huge hassle and felt like it took hours when I was in elementary school.
