USA Today ran a scathing column this week calling out former UH head football coach Nick Rolovitch, now head coach at Washington State (“Opinion: College football is evolving past coaches like Nick Rolovich, even if a few are still around“).
Sports columnist Dan Wolken didn’t pull any punches. Here’s an excerpt:
What Rolovich is — or, at least, the way he’s presented himself publicly over the last 12 months — is a science-denying, player-bullying embarrassment to Washington State University who isn’t merely in over his head running a Power Five program but the kind of coach who will soon be extinct in a new era of player empowerment and social responsibility.
At this point, the question isn’t whether Washington State has to fire him; it’s how long and at what cost they will allow Rolovich’s self-immolation to continue.

He should have stayed in Hawaii, and in his own lane.
According to the column, Rolovich “did some nice work in relative obscurity at Hawaii.” True, alas, and a shame especially since that unfortunately accurate description was not always so. Now, about that UCLA game….
He managed to skip town without being held accountable for assaulting a news photographer in front of thousands of witnesses, so go figure….
I forgot about that when Nick Rolovich assaulted the photographer. He should have faced consequences ie: arrest!! Nobody should be allowed to assault people just because they have a high paying job.
Interesting that this arose after the Coaches recent controversy regarding the Covid injection.
Is the Liberal Press running this due to Covid politics? Anti-vaxers seem to be getting a taste of whats normally bestowed on conservatives.
Of course it arose because of his stance on vaccinations. It’s like he was begging to be scrutinized.
Most anti vaxxers tend to align themselves with the so called conservatives and their Messiah, The Former Guy.
Anti-Vaxers are not so easily categorized as black or white. This is not Trump v. Biden,
As both have been injected and the Vax was developed under…what you call “The Former Guy”. In fact Trump’s project “Warp Speed” produced the treatment. So how this attempt to vilify individual choice in to groups, it’s more comparable to abortion and personal choice.
Perhaps, Robert Muller could investigate and report back.
That Rolovich got on a plane without any notice/saying goodbye to his fans etc., and called to let the news outlets know only after he was on the Mainland said volumes about this guy.
Nick Rolovich certainly didn’t belong at UH where the motto is Maluna a‘e o na lahui a pau ke ola ke kanaka (Above all nations is humanity). He marketed killing to the students like a video game. He would train the students in “clearing rooms” with machine guns and posed while shooting M2 50 caliber machine guns.

Pre-trial publicity? It was announced on KITV news tonight, that a Civil lawsuit has been filed by a player claiming racism by Coach Rolovich.
