Another plea deal related to the Mike Miske case

I’ve got another story in Civil Beat today, and it’s already hit #1 on the “Most Popular” list!

The story looks at the plea deal in what might look like a run-of-the-mill drug case unconnected to Mike Miske or his alleged racketeering gang, but it’s clearly connected if you know the cast of characters (“The Miske Case: Former Kaneohe Biker Bar Operator Pleads Guilty“). Remember that Civil Beat does not hide their publication behind a pay wall, so you can just click the link to read the story.

Steve Silva was one of three men who formed Cheers LLC in 2015 to open and operate the Four4 Bar and Grill in a Kaneohe strip mall. And the Four4 was the gathering place for a year or two for members of the Nakipi Motorcycle Club, which was led by Norman Akau.

That’s the link. Akau appeared in court and pleaded guilty in early June to being a member of Miske’s criminal organization, and told the judge he had been part of at least one murder-for-hire plot funded by Miske, although it was eventually “unsuccessful,” and the planned killing didn’t take place.

Two others who were among the leaders of Nakipi, Lindsey Kinney and Zeph Kimo Salis, are also names tied to the Miske case.

Anyway, it’s another gnarly and complicated story to tell. So check it out!

And a hearing is scheduled later this week on a motion filed by the Civil Beat Law Center for the Public Interest seeking to unseal a copy of Akau’s written plea agreement.

Their filing with DCCA added another member to the LLC. If that person hold a 75% interest, the license meets commission rules even after Silva’s guilty plea, as I understand the situation. But i have not looked at the Liquor Commission file.
