   There’s a livestream from the Elks Club running 24/7, which also includes some sort of realtime chat which appears to happen continuously and usually is being done in obscure foreign languages. It’s always fun to see what the weather is like at the oceanfront, and it might be fun to copy/paste a random piece of the chat into google translate to see which language it is and what sort of content is being exchanged.

      To see the chat you must click on the YouTube name. Here’s the URL, which the robot replaced with the webcam view minus the chat. Remove the quotes.

         Mildly interesting! Google finds bits of the chat to be in Gujarati and from one user in Azerbaijani, but it won’t translate the Gujarati if you feed it more than a sentence or so at a time. Maybe the chat is more multilingual than it appears. Maybe it’s in a variety of Gujarati that Google Translate isn’t familiar with. Maybe the romanization/spelling is nonstandard. Maybe someone from NW India would recognize the languages and understand more of what’s being said.

            And I forgot to say bits of it could be Hindi or Punjabi. My guesses remain the same. Maybe multilingual. Maybe an Indo-Aryan language Google doesn’t deal with. Maybe nonstandard spelling. Maybe easier for someone from Gujarat or Punjab or thereabouts.

      Thanks for pointing to the foreign language chat. I wonder why this streaming site is being used this way.
