It’s been a stressful week in cat world.

On the plus side, we chose a name. She’s no longer Stray Cat Lind. She is officially Cleo.

It works as a cat name. And she seems to have accepted it without a fuss.

And another plus…she is now very interested escaping from isolation. She now waits just inside the door when she hears me coming. That means that as I open the door, I have to check behind me to keep all the Insiders at bay, and then turn my attention to Cleo to block her from trotting out in the rest of the house.

Unfortunately, she has to be isolated until we get a medical “all clear” on the worms and any other conditions. Hopefully coming soon.

Now that we’ve named her, we’re really invested in her successful recovery and eventual integration.

And she’s causing me lots of anxiety. Since Sunday’s deworming med, she has obviously been feeling puny. Minimal appetite, little activity. She purrs, seems happy to see us. The medication can cause nausea and reduced appetite, but the internet consensus is that these symptoms should only last 2-3 days. So we’re heading back for another vet check this afternoon. Fingers crossed. And when she isn’t feeling well, she pees outside of the litter boxes. So we’re back deploying puppy pads in strategic locations. The most frequently visited are right next to or under the litter boxes. We had to do that for Romeo, since his aching rear end no longer allowed him to squat down, but didn’t expect to be back in puppy pad world so soon.
