The year isn’t quite a week old, and here we are with another Feline Friday.
One mystery. Well, not really a mytery, but a situation we don’t fully understand.
Kinikini, our big orange tabby, is the only cat that sleeps in bed with us. Nap time or overnight, it doesn’t matter. Warm weather or cold, doesn’t matter. He’s there. Most of the time, he sleeps between my legs. Sometimes he wake up, walks up between Meda and me, then sneaks over and lays down on Meda for a minute or two before sneaking back into his regular position.
Kali runs and jumps onto the bed to collect some petting whenever we go into the bedroom for any reason, but she doesn’t stay around to sleep.
And Bessie doesn’t normally come into the bedroom at all.
It may all trace back to the period when Kinikini was getting used to being inside and wanted to be the dominant cat, chasing other off cats off the bed. He doesn’t really do that any more, but Kali and Bessie have accepted the boundaries.
On cold nights, our previous generations of cats all crowded into our double bed to share body warmth. Not this cohort.
In any case, here come the cats for their first 2023 appearances.
