To tell the truth, we’re on Maui for a couple of days to see several Canadian friends who are hiding out from winter and enjoying the all the weather Hawaii has to offer.

But before leaving home, I set up today’s Feline Friday.

Can you tell that Kinikini is the boss of the house, and feels constantly called upon to assert his authority? Not just with the cats, but in an ongoing tussle to put me in my place. Unfortunately, for Kinikini at least, I’m armed with one of those evil squirt bottles and am not too reluctant to use it. That kind of keeps me from being deposed as Top Cat in the hierarchy.

In asserting himself, Kinikini is compelled to chase both Kali and Bessie several times a day. This is a bit different than the bouts of play between Kali and Kini, and is clearly an assertion of dominance. Luckily, Kali and Bessie hide, let Kinikini strut his stuff, and then pretty quickly emerge. No lasting damage done.

In any case, here come our current generation of Kahala cats!
