So, here we go again. The adventure of our Kahala Three. Kinikini, the big orange tabby. Kali, #1 calico, with the “beauty spots” around her nose and mouth. And Bessie, #2 calico, with the very sweet face.
All three are rescues from a cat colony at the top of Aiea Heights, across on the other side of Honolulu from our home in Kahala. Kali was first, in September 2020. Kinikini followed about six months later, and Bessie another six or seven months after that.
Before bringing Kali into our household, we had been down to a single cat for the first time in since soon after we were married. When we lived in Kaaawa, we had a count of nine or more, depending on whether we counted kittens who would later be adopted out to others.
This week, Kali and Kinikini have been enjoying periods of the zoomies, taking turns chasing each other the length of the house, disappearing into one of the bedrooms, and then returning at top speed in the other direction.
Is it related to their being mostly “off” their canned food? Too soon to say, I think.
Anyway, next week’s task is to get their claws trimmed. If I’m not able to do it, it’s off to our v-e-t to let one of her techs get it done.
