I tested the waters several weeks ago by posting my best dog photos of the week, all taken during our daily walks to the beach at dawn. It drew some supportive responses, and I meant to begin doing this regularly, but a week of travel intervened.
In any case, here’s another batch of our Kahala Morning Dogs.
New this week: Bolt.
We have met him previously but only from a distance. He was aggressive, and his people made sure he didn’t come in contact with other people. But he’s a great example of successful socialization. Today he say little dog biscuits behind distributed, and he joined right in. I was a bit apprehensive, but he was totally well behaved and took one out of my hand. I know, that probably wasn’t the wisest thing to do, but it worked out fine. And a couple of minutes later, Bolt was back to beg for seconds. Of course, after this dramatic change of behavior, I had to reward him!
He was a Humane Society rescue, and Bolt was the name they gave him.
Amber is another new dog we just met. You may notice that she was shaved in several places. That apparently happened when she found and chewed a popsicle stick, and then needed medical intervention to remove fragments of it. I didn’t press for the gory details, and she seemed to be well down the road to recovery.
Anyway, enjoy yourselves, dog people!

When viewing the large pics, the names of canines are not seen. But when I saw ‘Bolt’, I knew that was him. His people are good folks to calm him down like that. With Amber, what a photo ! See the loop in the leash and how it perfectly matches up with the tail? Or am I seeing things? Such an elegant dog.
