Feline Friday: A sunny Hawaiian winter day

Next week on Feline Friday, I have to drop Kinikini off at 7 a.m. for dental surgery and teeth cleaning. He’s likely to lose at least a few more of his remaining teeth. We hope for the best, but recognize that his early time in the cat colony, coupled with his FIV status, have left their mark in his mouth.

But for this week, the cats are rotating through the best afternoon sun spot. They each get enough time in the sun to get toasty before wandering off somewhere to cool down.

You’ll see one photo of an encounter between Kali and Kinikini. He’s a little bit of a bully, but she no longer backs down and runs away. She stands her ground, as she did in this case. And in light of her resistance, he decided there were better things to do somewhere else. Good choice, Kinikini!

The other interesting thing is that Kinikini has joined the bird watching club. He and Besie set up shop by about 3 p.m. and enjoy birdwatching for the next couple of hours. It’s now an afternoon ritual.

In any case, here come the cats.
