Juror out sick, Miske trial on hold

At a status conference in court early Monday morning, it was disclosed that a juror is sick. As a result, the court “will go dark” for the rest of the week. The trial will continued next Monday, February 12.

And an arrest warrant for Michael Buntenbah was filed in court on Friday, February 2, several days after it was executed.

The warrant was signed by Judge Derrick Seabright on January 29. According to the return, which is the receipt for the action taken, Buntenbah was arrested on January 30 by Deputy U.S. Marshall Chris Poitra. The return does not indicate when or where the arrest took place.

Buntenbah appeared before Magistrate Judge Kenneth Mansfield the following day, January 31, and entered a plea of “no contest” to a charge that he violated one of the terms of probation. Mansfield ordered him to remain in custody at the Federal Detention Center in Honolulu until his sentencing.

Buntenbah, one of Mike Miske’s original ten co-defendants, has been free on bond for more than three years. He pleaded guilty in March 2022 to conspiracy to commit asssault in aid of racketeering. Basically, he took part in beating up people while working as a bouncer at Miske’s M Nightclub. He was also charged with with taking part in a large cocaine purchase in Los Angeles in 2014, and records show he was arrested when the drug buy was broken up by the DEA and local police in Montebello, California. However, the drug charge was dismissed as part of Buntenbah’s plea deal with prosecutors.
