Before my parents bought a home in the 900 block of Kealaolu Avenue in 1942 (the home where we now live), they rented a home up the street just beyond the corner of Farmers Road.
One of my mother’s photo albums yielded this photo of her posing at the door of that rented house at 1018 Kealaolu Avenue.
About 75 years later, the property gained notoriety as the home of then Honolulu Police Chief Louis Kealoha and his wife, Deputy Prosecutor Katherine Kealoha, and the location of the mailbox at the center of their plot to falsely charge Katherine’s uncle with the theft of the mailbox.
My parents died before the mailbox theft and the Kealoha’s corrupt conspiracy made headllines.
I would have enjoyed hearing them talk about the house as it was back then.

Aloha Ian – I’ve been following your postings for quite awhile. Your postings get more interesting
especially the Kealoha house your parents once lived in. Your Mom kept great photos!
Mahalo, Rich
Such an interesting turn of events. Hawaii is a very small place.
