The end is in sight!

The minutes of today’s session in the trial of Michael Miske provided a new timeline:

“Discussion held regarding scheduling issues. Govt. indicated there is a good chance it may rest by the first week in June.”

That’s just a month away. And it will be a busy month, by my reckoning.

Several important witnesses have not yet been heard from: Lance Bermudez, Harry Kauhi, Jason Yokoyama, and Delia Miske, for starters.

And the government previously filed notice that it intended to call several “hostile witnesses,” including Tom Otake, Miske’s former longtime attorney; and at least three of Miske’s girlfriends, Andrea Kaneakua, Tory Clegg, and Heather Freeman.

Others who might be called include Nick Carignan, a drug dealer who was the victim of an armed robbery involving a group of Miske associates; Keoni Adric, who according to prior testimony and documents took part in several assaults, and became and FBI confidential source; and Michael Buntenbah, another of Miske’s strong-arm enforcers.

There are lots of others as well.

Yes, a busy month going forward.

And then Miske’s defense attorneys will begin presenting their case, which will likely take at least another month, and probably longer.
