Now that the jury verdict is in, here’s the “not quite final” listing of my reporting on the Miske case.
This covers what I’ve written from January 1, 2024 through today, July 20, 2024.
It’s a reminder of how deep and complex this case, and my reporting, has been.
And this wrap-up is, I suppose, for the record.
Before the trial began, I knew that I would be unable to “cover” the proceedings over the estimated 6+ months. At best, I could stop in from time to time. Before long, several people volunteered to be trial observers and take notes at least one day every couple of weeks. On most days, there were no reporters present at the trial, and our volunteer observations provided at least an informal record to draw on.
This draft is limited to the stories that were published by Civil Beat, many of which appeared first here at iLind.net. Over the next few days, I’ll go back and insert other blog posts so that the listing is complete. Until then, it is a work in progress.

Ian, you did a great job of keeping us informed. I’m specifically referring to your coverage of Miske, et al., but it applies equally to your consistently outstanding work over the past 40+ years.
Thank you for everything Ian.
Ian – Great job on covering and explaining the events of this saga. I know you are “retired” but don’t let that stop you from following up on and reporting on things that aren’t covered by the traditional “media”.
You’;ve done a stellar job considering it was all volunteer. The big cases on the mainland have podcasters, paid journalists from news outlets, crime outlets, and citizens who just report on big cases. We have none of that here so I for one really appreciate all you’ve done. This case reminds me of the case and subsequent movie, No one saw a thing…..that horrible person the whole town hated for what he’d done to everyone for YEARS…then someone out of a huge crowd shot him dead. Not one person came forward with what they saw. Miske was teflon, until he wasn’t.
When will all others who plead guilty get sentenced?
They are being scheduled one by one over the next six months or more.
Some of them have already had sentencing dates come and go. How do we find out how their sentencing turned out?
