July seems to have arrived in May

Tuesday, May 19.

88 degrees. No trade winds, so it feels like 92°.

Whatever the numbers, it is hot in Redwood City and most of the area south of San Franisco today.

People here have tricks for moving themselves around the house as the sun progresses through the day, seeking out the most pleasant room to be in at any particular time.

We lost that traditional knowledge decades ago, if we ever had time to learn it.

It’s hot. I had a shower. The fan that I moved into the living room sounds like a jet engine when it is on his high speed.

Bring it on!

Wet a kerchief, wring it out, roll it up and tie loosely around the neck. An old hiking trick.

They also sell tiny little personal fans which you can wear around your neck, or clamp to a nearby desktop. They don’t make so much noise and work pretty well as long as they are next to you.

    Best wishes.

True, my friend said it’s 90° in the East Bay of San Francisco today! Unusually warm there for this time of year!

By the way, these surgery recovery self care tips helped me after abdominal surgery:

–After your incisions have healed, use Vitamin E liquid capsules to minimize scars by cutting off a tip with scissors, then spreading it over your incisions.
–At bedtime, rub Vicks vapor rub into the soles and heels of your feet, cover with socks, then go to sleep…helps you fall asleep faster.
–Use the calm.com phone app to do short meditations during your day. The app and basic sessions are free. You can upgrade at cost for more specialized sessions.
–Search for YouTube videos from Wayne Dyer, Louise Hay, and any other hosts on a wide range of topics, including healing, affirmations, etc.

All great advice from this reader – especially Dr. Dyer and Louise Hay – they have been a favored go- to for many years. My kids in Brisbane report the same sultry weather, even in their little hamlet of Brisbane CA. And when its hot there, it truly is because it seems Brisbane residents live in their own personal little cloudbank – they enjoy gorgeous sunny days and then, not unlike neighboring SF, the cloud bank rolls in to keep evenings chill.

So sorry I can’t offer a fix for the delivery snafu Ian – Wish I was nearby to offer shopping and delivery assistance to you and Meda… do take care you two —
