And I’m speaking of brain fuzz, not cat fur!
The first three days of this week were miserable with side effects of Friday’s chemo session.
I was very dizzy, and that sent me back to bed for a good part of several days. I’ve come to expect this.
Saturday, now counted as Day 2 under the standard chemo calendar, is fine. The chemicals that drip through me on Friday ward off the immediate side effects pretty effectively, and that extends over into Saturday. Sunday becomes a day of transition, from “not feeling too bad” to “OMG stop the room from spinning.” When it becomes difficult to stand up and walk across the house without feeling woozy, I know it’s time for more bed rest, and I retreat.
The problem is that spending much of the day in bed with my attentive feline guardians makes me feel guilty. I attribute it to the Protestant Ethic I inherited. There’s a long checklist of things I would like to accomplish, from small parts of larger projects to financial/bureaucratic tasks that should get done before they cause problems.
And I haven’t yet learned to effective repress the feeling that these “need” to get done.
But my cousin Laura, who has been through chemo on her own medical adventure, scolds me for failing to listen to my body and enjoy the rest. And the cats.
I’m trying!
Despite being flat on my back for much of the week, I did manage to keep a camera at the ready and collect enough photos for a healthy Feline Friday!!
