The tech support folks at Hostrocket, my hosting service, now say they believe they have solved the problem many people reported when trying to post comments.

I’m still getting reports of people having trouble leaving comments.
I just tried to leave a comment myself, and got this error message:
Forbidden
You don’t have permission to access /wordpress/wp-comments-post.php on this server.
Additionally, a 500 Internal Server Error error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
The problem has been reported to my hosting service, which is scrambling to correct it.
In the meantime, you can email comments to me and I’ll post them (email ian(at)ilind.net).
Sorry for the inconvenience, which hopefully is temporary.
Here’s an example of that aggravating ghost box that’s been showing up this week, just in case you haven’t run into it yet. This is how it looked earlier this morning when I checked the site.
Looking over the comments, I’m going to try removing the “Share” plug-in and see if the ghost box disappears.

You may have noticed the appearance of a strange black rectangle in the middle of iLind.net!
I have no idea what this is, where it’s coming from, or how to get rid of it.
I don’t know if everyone sees it, and it doesn’t seem to appear all the time. It’s a mystery, to me at least.
All troubleshooting advice would be appreciated!!
