Here’s my batch of photos taken at today’s “No Kings” protest at the Hawaii State Capitol.
It was a very large crowd stretching several blocks in downtown Honolulu.
Multi-ethnic, multi-issue, and all ages were represented.
I hope that this batch of photos will give you a good flavor of the spirit of the day.
Despite the date, you’re in luck! Feline Friday is here on time and on budget.
I ended up short on Kali photos for the week, so had to dig out a toy that I could dangle in front of her in order to capture just a couple more good shots of her. It worked!
Taking a few minutes to appreciate the cats will momentarily take your mind off the incredibly spooky prospect of Trump’s military parade on Saturday straight out of old Hitler and Stalin newsreels, or those of the president’s other dictator buddies, Putin and Kim Jong Un.
It’s hard for me to stomach that there are well educated people who find ways to rationalize our rapid descent into authoritarianism driven by the president’s belching of endless delusions and lies.
Yes, the cats calming effects are definitely needed today.
Feline Friday is ready before noon, although we didn’t get home from our week away until just before 8 p.m. last night.
But the cats cooperated, the weather and light in the house cooperated, and so they’re back, almost on schedule!
I apologize for a couple of photos taken before I swept up the results of some over-enthusiastic digging in one of the litter boxes.
In any case, here come the cats!
We got home about 8 p.m. last night after a week in Portland, Oregon. We had a connecting flight to San Francisco, a 90-minute layover, and then boarded our flight to Honolulu. We took an Uber from the airport and arrived home at just before 8 p.m.
The cats treated us to a few minutes of Zoomies before calming down and looking for dinner. Kinikini, who hid from our cat sitter the whole week, apparently felt he could wait a few extra minutes and ran out into the garage as we dragged ourselves into the house. He usually does a circuit around the car, checking for I don’t know what, then inspects a couple of places before standing at the kitchen door waiting to be let back into the house. He’s usually ready and waiting after about 3 minutes. But seeing us after a week away is usually enough to distract him from the garage, but not last night. Go figure.
Bottom line, though–No opportunity to gather Feline Friday photos! Maybe I’ll be able to post an edition of FF on Saturday. We’ll see what happens today.
But I did grab this shot out the window of our United Airlines Boeing 777 about 30-45 minutes out of Honolulu. Hopefully you’ll enjoy it!
