Dallas Blogger Shawn Wiliams reported about 30 minutes ago that the Denver fire marshall had stopped admitted late comers to Pepsi Center.

Richard Port, who has participated in his share of conventions as a delegate from Hawaii, warned this morning that this has happened before and advised everyone to get there early.

Port said even U.S. senators had been denied entry in prior years.

I don’t know if any senators were kept out tonight, but Williams reported that Bill Richardson was among those who had to wait.

Within the next 30 minutes, Williams reported that he had finally been allowed to enter.

I’ve gotten enough feedback to know that I should post an alternative format, maybe a straight Quicktime movie. I’ll work on that shortly.

I’m backlogged, it’s hot, everybody is tired, and it’s only Tuesday.

Yes, the flowers that decorate the Hawaii delegations spot are beautiful and received a lot of media attention last night. But Wyoming blogger Michael Shay says, “next time, bring tumbleweeds”.

The Wyoming delegates are sitting immediately behind the Hawaii delegation, and Shay, their designated state blogger, was seated several rows behind me.

In a blog post on his hummingbirdminds, Shay wrote:

They (the Hawaii delegates) brought three-foot-tall cuttings of Heliconia and Torch Ginger which they wrapped around their placard. It’s pretty, but the greenery and orangery and reddery is now blocking my view of Howard Dean and Nancy Pelosi at the podium.

We wouldn’t have that problem with the very spare limbs of thistle. At the first sign of the breeze (or a good burst of AC air), the Russian Thistle would go tumbling along and become tumbleweeds.

I’ve gotten one report but, if there’s a problem, I need more info in order to solve it.

I’ve tried to keep the highest quality video, but other formats might be more universally compatible.
