Akaka to seek Hawaii votes for Obama in Las Vegas

This just in from Andy Winer:

Immediately after the convention, Senator Daniel Akaka will travel to Las Vegas to campaign for Barack Obama. It is expected that Senator Akaka will be making media and personal appearances to garner support among ex-Hawaii residents livings in Nevada as well as among the large Asian-American and Pacific Islander community in Nevada.

Another interview

While over at The Big Tent on Monday, I struck up a conversation with someone downstairs. Turned out it was Steve Myers, news editor for the Poynter Institute, who is covering both the Democratic and Republican conventions.

You can read Steve’s resulting story here (with photo!). It’s a good story, apart from a couple of jumbled facts in my case (iLind.net actually began back in 1999, and is now getting about 8,500 unique visitors a month with some 25,000+ total visits. But I’m not quibbling. He did a good job considering we were standing next to the soon-to-be-open beer garden in the basement below the tent.

Taking the night off

If you haven’t noticed, I’m not at Pepsi Center tonight.

In fact, I’m watching Hillary Clinton’s speech with a glass of wine in hand at the same time you are.

To tell the truth, I don’t know how the delegates make it through the week. The heat, altitude, low humidity, and the difficult logistics just got me down. After last night’s convention proceedings, I was wiped out.

So I wandered the streets downtown today, but retreated tonight. I expect to get a full night’s sleep and retain enough energy for the next two days.

In the meantime, I’m trying to catch up on photos and video, and some of the observations of the past few days.

To tell the truth, there’s plenty of other reporting on tonight’s activities.
