I noticed this scene downtown today.

With the state’s projected budget shortfall signaling a fiscal crisis ahead, I guess visitors to the First Circuit Court building will be stepping around the areas of broken tile for a while. If I’m not mistaken, the tile damage was caused by leaks whenever it rains. I don’t know if the leaks have been repaired. For years they’ve just put out wastebaskets or garbage cans or just cardboard boxes lined with plastic bags to catch the rain water.

How do you spell “deferred maintenance”?
