At 9:30, it’s still sunny in Kaaawa with only a hint of possible wind.
Most state and county employees have been given the day off, schools closed, and emergency systems put on alert in anticipation of nearly hurricane force winds forecast in advance of an approaching cold front.
So far, though, it’s been a beautiful morning in our part of the island.
Looking up the coast towards Punaluu and beyond, in the direction of the approaching weather front, there’s a big rainbow, followed by somewhat ominous clouds and what appears to be some rain. It’s moving this way very slowly. Just a little sprinkle of rain so far. No indication yet that there’s major weather involved, but we’ll soon see.
