Tuesday…Cats & dogs

Sometimes the little things push aside the weighty affairs of the day.

We awoke around 3 a.m. to the sounds of a cat fight. That’s never a fun thing. Actually, before going to bed, we shut the cat door and kept the brood inside. Unfortunately, Romeo didn’t show up and was then locked out for the night. We turned on several outside lights and the cat cries ended, but Romeo didn’t appear for another 15 minutes or so, dirt in his fur (he must have gone into a fighting position on his back in the dirt) but with no apparent injuries.

[Update: Injury found in an embarrassing and uncomfortable spot on Romeo’s rear end. We’re stopping at VCA on the way into town to get him examined and given a dose of antibiotics. Right now he is sloooow. How could he weigh 17+ pounds and still get his butt kicked?]

But the early morning excitement was followed by an only partially successful attempt to get a bit more sleep. It was successful enough, though, that I haven’t had enough time to get thoughts together this morning.

[text]Instead, I’ll treat you to visuals of a few more of our Kaaawa morning dogs. They’re among the dozens of dogs who look forward to seeing us every morning. Actually, these are among the smaller group of regulars who we see almost every day. This is Maka. You wouldn’t call him “cute” but he’s obviously a good watchdog and now watches for us every morning. He often catches us if we try to slip by his house unnoticed and will bark until we give up and go back around to give him a biscuit.

So just click on Mr. Maka to see today’s dog gallery.

That is a remarkable photo of Mr. Maka. He’s so contemplative. Your Kodak moment is quite captivating. Mr. Maka’s family should be ordering greeting cards now!

What’s the name of that last dog, the one that looks like a butterscotch and white version of Pansy/Pete the Pup from Our Gang/Little Rascals fame? S/he looks like s/he’s gonna leap into the camera for that biscuit, with the tip of her/his tail quivering like a trigger . . . .

You must have quite a biscuit budget.

Yes, dog biscuits have become a significant cost item. Without Costco, we would have many unhappy and betrayed dogs.

The “Our Gang” looking dog is Boogie, who lives just around the corner. Yes, tail wags the dog.
