Meda landed in Rochester, NY, a couple of hours ago. She’ll be there for several days to give the Riley Lecture in Women’s Studies at Alfred University. No, I never heard of Alfred U either. Here’s their press release on her visit.
Meanwhile, I’m up early in order to take Ms. Wally in for a vet check-up at 8 a.m.
She will serenade me the whole way, and then be totally quiet on the return drive. It happens every time.
So I won’t have a chance to do today’s entry until Wally & I return from Kaneohe.
Stop by later today.

Could be worse. At the beginning of the month, we had to make an emergency trip to Georgia (my father-in-law died). We drove (14 hours straight) because we didn’t have time or money to go by air, rent a car, etc. The only arrangement we could make for our two, Tikit and Bikini, was to stay with my sister in Milwaukee, two hours away. So into the cat carriers they went – and one cat carrier is a bit small. We heard about it most of the way down until they finally dozed off.
On the way back, we had obtained a larger cardboard carrier and gave that to Tikit, the bigger cat. She is the adventurous type – her first day at her temporary dwelling, she managed to open every cabinet and topped that with a slide down the laundry chute.
It took her only 15 minutes to claw her way through the cardboard and earn a window seat for the rest of the trip.
