I’ve been looking for news sources on the situations in Japan and Libya.
Al Jazeera does surprisingly well on both with their “Disaster in Japan” and “Libya Live” blogs. Latest links are on their list of blogs.
From Reuters, “Live coverage of Japan earthquake aftermath,” which includes the ongoing nuclear crisis.
BBC offers its latest Asia-Pacific News.
All Things Nuclear provides excellent information, as does a blog from Nuclear Science and Engineering at MIT.
Can others suggest informative opposing views on U.S. policy in Libya?
Here’s one debate from the Council on Foreign Relations, with another set of extended articles here.
There’s one emerging view that intervention in Libya is a cover for other Neocon foreign policy goals. From Crooks and Liars, “Neocons want war with Libya,” and from The Nation, “Libya and the Dilemma of Intervention.”
In any case, suggestions of good reference reading would be appreciated.

I think Juan Cole’s blog on events in the Middle East is very helpful (http://www.juancole.com/). Cole is a historian at the University of Michigan and a prolific commentator on Middle Eastern affairs. His articles have appeared in “The Nation” and elsewhere.
112 Tomahawks just used — that is like $50 to $100 million in one stroke
how does this money get appropriated?
we are definitely in a different era then when Ronald Reagan took action in Libya — Reagan seems to be a bit of a dove in hindsight
Why are we intervening in Libya’s civil war??? Leave them alone! This reminds me of the civil war in Vietnam.
Not daily, nor breaking news, but the Center for Excellence in Disaster Management & Humanitarian Assistance has concise summaries of the situation in Japan: http://www.coe-dmha.org/ They may be covering Libya by next week. I haven’t done this, but it appears you can subscribe to subjects.
