Since we heard about the break-in at a beach house just over a week ago, it’s looking like a mini-crime wave here in Kaaawa. There were two burglaries near Kaaawa Park Lane just last Friday, another on Lihimauna Road earlier last week, along with thefts from homes and cars in several spots in Kaaawa over the past six weeks.
At least one of those burglaries was tied directly to the young man who burglarized our house two years ago. Certain items taken in the burglary were recovered from the room where the suspect was staying.
Needless to say, there are a lot of worried, upset and angry people in Kaaawa.
I was out yesterday shopping for a safe to install to protect camera equipment, some of Meda’s jewelry, laptops, and other valuables, and I’ve got a second small security camera ready to install, hopefully today.
Meanwhile, here’s a map of recent crimes in Kaaawa from the Honolulu Police Department’s crime mapping web site, which turns out to be very useful. I entered our home address to get a listing of crimes within a mile or two. Enter your own address and see what you find. Remember that you can also set the date or time period that you’re looking for.

Really great info Ian. Thanks. We taxpayers spend a lot of tax payer money supporting HPD. I could get map but not detail. Does detail tell if any crimes were solved?
