Na Maka O Ka ‘Aina video collection

I wanted to share an email from Joan Landers and Puhipau of Na Maka O Ka ‘Aina about their video library.

They’ve been hard at work over several decades quietly documenting a wide swath of Hawaii activism and politics.

There are some gems of history in their catalog, like a 1977 video documentary on George Helm, and I’m guessing that many people aren’t familiar with their work. That’s something that can easily be corrected.

Aloha kakou,

We put up a short tribute to Marion Kelly on our YouTube channel.

Please feel free to check it out.

It is by no means a complete overview of all the footage we have of Marion,
just some precious moments she shared with us.

Mahalo to Hank Kaahea for providing the music tracks and all those who gave their permission to appear in the video.

For those of you unfamiliar with Marion’s life, you can visit her “in memoriam” page at
http://marionkelly.wordpress.com/.

We hope to upload more historical footage from our library on our YouTube channel as we work to digitize and archive the many thousands of videotapes in our collection. We invite you to keep checking in.

And you can follow our latest announcements and releases on Facebook and Twitter.

We continue to offer our 92 programs on Hawaiian culture & history at:
www.HawaiianVoice.com

Mahalo.
