Campaign Spending Commission looking into possible “criminal misconduct”

I’ve noticed this item tucked away in the “Executive Session” portion of recent agendas of the Campaign Spending Commission:

*Pursuant to Hawaii Revised Statutes section 92-5(a)(5)–To investigate proceedings regarding criminal misconduct in Docket No. 12-07 concerning a candidate’s failure to report contributions and expenditures as well as untimely deposits of contributions….

Hmmmm. The commission hasn’t been known for undertaking many criminal investigations.

I couldn’t find any public references to the target(s) of this investigation. It must date back to the 2010 election.

Any guesses?

My question is how exactly this is a matter for executive session or witholding the documents involved… or is it just going to be a “consult with attorney/ privacy: catch-all as I suspect.
