Last weekend, Toby was just feeling rotten. He didn’t show up in the morning to get for his spoonful of cottage cheese, and he spent way too much time curled up in the same spot on the bed. I thought it might be a bad hairball, so let him lick globs of Laxatone off my fingers for a couple of days. It didn’t seem to make much difference.
So he got an appointment at VCA in Kaneohe. It was a same-day deal, our regular vet was booked, and so Toby’s appointment was with one of the new vets, Tyler Craft.
Well, to make a long story short, this was what Toby’s paperwork looked like after his visit, which involved a physical exam, a blood test, and X-rays for good measure because they were on sale.
I called it his merit badge, but it’s a dubious honor indeed. Toby was not happy and apparently did not cooperate. Look in my mouth? Forget it. Squeeze my parts for a urine sample? I’ll bite back!
He was returned to us, with the new “Special Handling” warning, after the various tests were done. He got an antibiotic shot, because initial blood results indicated some kind of background infection. And he was sent home for parental observation.
So now we’ve got two cats that carry warning stickers.
Romeo also has one, although we keep trying to tell them it’s no longer needed. It stems from the first visit when we brought in this smelly stray in a cat trap and had no idea how he would react to human contact. The warning sticker went on right away. And even though he turned out to be a wus and “goes Gandhi” whenever he’s picked up, melting into a warm furry ball of total surrender, the sticker has stayed, renewed whenever her returns for any reason.
By the way, Toby is feeling better. I think the antibiotics really made a difference. And, on a different topic altogether, Romeo’s “Wake-up call” video passed 3 million views sometime on the past day or so. Way to go, Romeo!
Anyway, it is another Feline Friday.

What a ferocious beast! Look at the malevolent intent in those eyes. I think that he needs to be locked up before he injures someone. LOL
