Here’s another slice of the most recent round of campaign contribution data.
I’ve ranked all candidates and elected officials by the total contributions received by their campaigns during the period from January 1, 2013 through June 30, 2013. This period covers the full annual legislative session.
Here are the top 15 in terms of money raised during the period, all incumbents.
Gov. Neil Abercrombie and Honolulu Mayor Kirk Caldwell were in a league of their own, well above Lt. Gov. Shan Tsutsui, who ranked #3.
Abercrombie and Caldwell combined to raise 53 percent of the total.
Senate President Donna Mercado Kim is the top ranked woman on the list at #8, and only two other women are among the top 15.

A column by Richard Borreca in today’s Star Ad refers to Abercrombie as “an unpopular governor”. I’ve heard others use the same phrase.
And yet….$$$$.
Is Michael Victorino related to Maui native and pro baseball player Shane Victorino?
Michael is from Hilo’s Villa Franca neighborhood and ran track at Hilo High. His older son played baseball at UH-Hilo. Yes, he is Shane’s pop.
Hey, if the politicians continue to raised monies like these, we could take care of the budget cuts.
Kirk Caldwell, $606, 850 could buy a lot of soap you promised for the bathrooms!
Neil Abercrombie, the $850,125 could buy a lot of school supplies for the teachers!
