It’s Mr. Toby who gets the honor of welcoming you to Feline Friday.

Toby is in an awkward position in this feline pride. He’s not sick, so he doesn’t get the added attention that comes with health issues. He has no trouble with his appetite, another lost opportunity for special attention. And he gets bullied by Romeo, who has to prove that he’s in charge of the household. He’s also scared of Annie, who will chase him off the bed if he tries to join in the pile of warmth. Toby is just really mellow, and his been that way since we found him as a two-week old kitten.

Not a lot of news to report on the cat front. We’ve discovered that fresh fish tempts Harriet into eating. Canned tuna used to work, but seems to have lost its appeal. My job is to chase her remaining appetite and keep her eating at least a little.

Romeo, meanwhile, is still on constant alert watching for Lumber, the wandering cat from down the hill. One evening this week, we had just gotten home when there was a ruckus in the living room. Surprise! There was Lumber, excitedly climbing up the screen on one of the windows! It was just lucky he didn’t come crashing through the louvers. It would have been utter chaos.
