I just found a small stash of classic Hawaii photographs taken in the period from about 1947 through 1952. Many feature Hawaiian Airline planes flying Hawaii skies.
I’ll be scanning and sharing several of these photos over the next several days.
Here’s one for folks who love Maui.
It’s a view of the town of Wailuku from somewhere over Kahului, taken right around 1949, I believe. There are some large blemishes on the negative, but enough detail comes through to make it interesting.
It’s amazing how little development there was at that point!

I think I can almost see the house my dad built and we lived in for several years just behind Baldwin H.S. in the New Sand Hills tract called Puuone Tract if my memory hasn’t failed me. Looks like Snow White Laundry just above Baldwin H.S. heading into Wailuku. Ahh da memories. Mahalo
