Ms. Kili welcomes you to another Feline Friday.
Kili has been missing Ms. Wally. They were litter mates, and both rescued at the same time. They lived together all of their nearly 18 years.
In Wally’s absence, Kili has decided that she wants to become a lap sitter. She’s never shown an interest in laps before, but for the last few nights has climbed up into Meda’s lap while we’re sitting around after dinner. And, as usual, she’s usually the first cat to get on the bed at night and claim a prime position. That hasn’t changed.
Romeo is as fussy as usual. Duke has been a little naughty and refused to come back inside on a couple of mornings. Yesterday he got locked out, and had to stay outside until we got home, which wasn’t until about 6 p.m. By that time, he was waiting at the door and very ready to be back in the house!
In any case, our five remaining cats are settling into the new rhythm of the daily routines.
Okay, I understand that for some of you, five cats seems like a lot. But we’ve had long periods when we lived with nine cats, although at that time they were indoor-outdoor cats. Still, we view the current situation as “just” five.

I’m ashamed to say we have 7 cats. Willow is indoor-outdoor (as the mood suits her), and the other 6 are confined to the house. I just CANNOT turn away a cat that needs medical attention, and once they’ve been treated for whatever ails them, I can’t bring myself to throw them out again. Sigh.
I’m not ashamed to say my group numbers 10 (lifetime max was 21). 9 are indoors only, 1 is a porch-sitter. All are rescued ferals, strays, abandoned; all are neutered and way better off and longer-lived than they would have been. Not sure how much longer I can *afford* this occupation but cats are their own reward IMHO!
“…cats are their own reward…”
So true!
