Throwback Thursday: Paradise Park in Manoa Valley, 1970

Here’s another photo I dredged up for this Throwback Thursday.

As I recall, Meda and I were visiting Paradise Park in the back of Manoa Valley, with my mother and her elderly uncle, James McPherson, “Uncle Mac” to us. It was 1970, not long after we had returned to Honolulu to enter graduate school at the University of Hawaii.

I should say that I had a parakeet as a kid, and always wanted to live with a big bird at some point. This is about as close as I ever got to that dream.

My wife and I stayed at Fort DeRussey in July 1970 during R&R. I was stationed in Viet Nam.
