Report finds Russian propaganda favors Tulsi

Hawaii’s Rep. Tulsi Gabbard is the “overwhelming favorite of Kremlin news outlets,” according to an analysis of news stories about the U.S. presidential campaign which appeared in Russian state-controlled media during 2019.

The Foreign Policy Research Institute, a Pennsylvania-based nonpartisan think tank reviewed Russian “overt propaganda” published by two state-controlled news sources, Russia Today (RT) and Sputnik News (“Russia’s Media Mentions of 2020 Democratic Candidates“).

The research team analyzed 1,711 Russia Today (RT) and Sputnik News articles from January 1 to November 10, 2019 that pertained to the 2020 presidential election (705 RT stories, 1,006 Sputnik News stories). Those 1,711 stories hosted 2,772 mentions of either the president, Republican candidates or Democratic candidates for president in 2020. More than half of those mentions referenced President Trump, which will be analyzed in a separate upcoming post. The team also logged an additional 319 mentions of former presidents and presidential candidates, which will be analyzed separately as well. Mentions were evaluated as “neutral,” “favorable” of the candidate or “unfavorable” of the candidate.

They identified 1,203 mentions of Democratic candidates, which “quickly illustrated the Kremlin’s preferences amongst the Democratic field and, in particular, who they likely don’t want to see inaugurated in January 2021.”

According to the report, “Gabbard is the only candidate assessed to receive more positive mentions (28) than negative mentions (6), and more positive mentions (28) than neutral mentions (27).”

Gabbard received the highest percentage of “favorable” mentions from the Russian press and the lowest percentage of “unfavorable” mentions among the twelve major candidates.

Joe Biden received the most mentions, with 53% rated as “unfavorable.” Bernie Sanders ranked second in the number of mentions, with the majority (62%) rated “neutral,” along with equal numbers of “favorable” and “unfavorable” mentions, both at 19%.

A spokesman for the Gabbard campaign issued a statement reported by NBC News.

“The warmongering foreign policy establishment in the media has been using this same smear since the day Congresswoman Gabbard announced her candidacy. This is nothing new.

The Trump campaign loved Tulsi Gabbard’s criticism of the Democratic Party:

Only minutes after Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-Hawaii) criticized the Democratic Party during Wednesday night’s primary debate, the Trump War Room Twitter account posted video of her remarks. In the short clip, Gabbard says, “Our Democratic Party, unfortunately, is not the party that is of, by, and for the people.”

The Trump War Room account is managed by Trump’s 2020 campaign, and amplifies pro-Trump news stories and Republican talking points. The fact that the Trump War Room posted the video likely won’t sit well with Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.), who responded to Gabbard’s comment by saying it was “unfortunate” that the Hawaii representative spent “four years full time on Fox News criticizing President Obama” and became buddy-buddy with former Trump adviser Stephen Bannon.

How about China, a bigger threat and fear factor largely ignored? China’s wealth and military parity primarily transferred over decades via Walmart / Sam’s Club this Arkansas based company really made modern China rich. No doubt Hillary Clinton position on that Board of Director’s during Her husband gubernatorial and Presidential terms. China is our looming Pacific threat. With powder kegs Taiwan and Hong Kong ready to blow! Being Chinese my fear is greater from them!

Look, if you liked how our presidents have been steered by MSM, big corporations—merging in even greater numbers—and influence going to the military “fighting for our(corp) interests, then keep the anti-Tulsi narrative going, in line with the media plan. In the beginning of Obama’s first term, he admitted his need for voter support, but it did not come due to same pressures Tulsi (and Yang) are having to deal with. Tune in to Joe Rogan’s latest interview w/Tulsi and get away from this made-up Russian angle.
