Read the lawsuit seeking disclosure of court files about Mike Miske’s boat, “Painkiller”

Last week, I wrote about the federal lawsuit seeking disclosure of court filings about the search warrant for the “Painkiller,” a boat owned by a company controlled by Michael Miske, who now faces a variety of federal racketeering charges (“Suit seeks documents relating to boat allegedly used in kidnapping and murder“).

A federal lawsuit filed in Honolulu last month is seeking the public disclosure of sealed court records relating to the search and seizure of the “Painkiller,” a $425,000 Boston Whaler purchased by a company controlled by Michael John Miske, Jr., owner of Kamaaina Termite & Pest Control and several other local businesses.

What I failed to do then was provide a copy of the legal complaint filed by the Civil Beat Law Center for the Public Interest.

You can read the full complaint, and other documents as they are filed, here.

If you’re curious about the Civil Beat Law Center, here’s the organization’s federal Form 990 tax nonprofit return for 2018, the most recent year available.

At least one person has complained that there’s already been too much news about the Miske criminal case. Well, I’m afraid that you’ll have to bear with me in the next few months. This case is important because it provides a window into the working of the criminal underworld, and we are all hoping the investigation will also provide some additional understanding of how crime figures exert influence in the political sphere as well. I’m one of those digging into the backgrounds and relationships between those already named in the case in hopes of getting ahead of the story. So I guess readers will just have to follow along as I pick at the case a bit at a time.

If you’re interested, you should check out the public Facebook group, Justice for Johnny, started by a relative of Jonathan Fraser, who went missing in late July 2016. Michael Miske is now accused by prosecutors of conspiring to kidnap and murder Fraser.

The group’s administrator says they continuing to push for the truth about what happened to Johnny. “We ain’t gonna stop!,” she says.

Sign up and, after being approved by the group’s administrator, it is an excellent way to keep up with what’s going on in the case and possibly contribute to finding the truth.

This is your blog. Go where you want to go, we’re just along for the ride. Those that don’t care for the subject matter at the time can always come back later.

Miske may be the discoloration that reveals the cancer within Honolulu and State government. It’s certain that the Star-Advertiser is incapable of doing an exploratory operation.

“Painkiller” That’s a rather sinister name for a boat, given the context of what is alleged about Mr. Miske. Almost too clever and cynical.
