UH student newspapers turns 100

Thanks to Hawaii Business Magazine for reminding us that the first edition of a student newspaper at the University of Hawaii was published a century ago today, September 13, 1922. The magazine’s story about the anniversary names a number of prominent people who have worked on the Ka Leo staff over the years (“Ka Leo, UH M?noa’s Student Newspaper, Turns 100“).

At one time, the newspaper was published and distributed five days a week using an on-campus press, but now appears almost exclusively online, found at https://www.manoanow.org/kaleo/.

There’s a search box provided. I tried searching for Meda’s name, and the search returned links to articles going back to 2001-2002.

There’s also a spotty collection available at ScholarSpace, and with a bit of digging you can read how the campus newspaper treated important events over at least parts of the past century.

In any case, Happy Anniversary, Ka Leo! And many more!
