It’s an awkward week.
On the one hand, all is well in our feline household. Except that these cats have started to food fuss…suddenly they’ve decided that the canned food they’ve been eating is, well, not worth eating.
Yes, they’re suddenly very fussy. I open a can, they mill around their dishes. I spoon some out. Sniff, nibble a little, sniff again, look at me, act disappointed, and then walk away.
It seems that they’ve decided, for some reason, that they’ll eat their dry food and leave what, until now, has been a mealtime treat.
Go figure.
For a day or two, I worried about it. Then I decided, well, let them make their choice.
As of Friday morning, they’ll go directly to dry food. No intermediate canned treat.
Next week I can report how this worked out.
And, at the same time, I’ve been reading many painful accounts from Maui, where in the midst of an unprecedented disaster, many people didn’t have the time to grab their pets before fleeing the flames.
I sent off a contribution this afternoon to the Maui Humane Society, which is in the midst of trying to do what they can to cope with the devastating situation. Earlier we dug deep and sent a much larger contribution to the Hawaii Community Foundation’s Maui Strong Fund.
Please do your part if you can.
Okay, now here comes the week in cat photos.

Picky with food, ignoring toys in favor of shopping bags or shipping boxes and demanding attention when you’re busy on another task: All prerogatives of The Cat 😀
In the end, we always give in.
My cat is the same way. She turned up her nose at wet food and went for the Purina Cat Chow (Natural flavor) every time. She does make an exception for a BBQ chicken from Costco. She can smell it the moment I walk in the door from shopping, gets up from wherever she’s been lounging and does her happy dance around my feet. She has me pretty well trained but hey, she’s low maintenance and generally good company.
