Yes, the destruction of homes, businesses, and lives painful to watch from a distance, obviously far worse for those whose lives have been suddenly turned upside down, or worse.

But in the process of grieving, and responding, remember the animals, specifically those which have survived the fire but are lost and/or injured.

The Maui Humane Society has put out an emergency call for support of all kinds. Money will help. Families willing to foster rescued animals are desperately needed.

I have read of some national organizations sending teams to Maui, and if you are a supporter of one of those, your donations could help, although I think the Maui Humane Society is probably in the best position to be responding immediately.
