A down payment on tomorrow’s Feline Friday

The cold that I brought back from San Francisco is now officially more than a week old, and it’s still kicking me around a bit. The cough is hanging on, and although I’m no longer feeling brain dead, and have been weening myself off the decongestants, I’m still stalling on the next couple of substantive blog posts. I do apologize for that, and hope I’ll get them done within the next couple of days.

In the meantime, here’s a stop-action photo in advance of tomorrow’s Feline Friday.

Kinikini was pumped up, and turned to pick on Kali, our senior calico. His eyes are locked on hers, and he’s starting to rise out of a crouch in preparation to pounce on her. Meanwhile, Kali is rolling over into a classic defensive position where she can deploy the claws on all four feet. They are trading low rumbling growls and whines as part of the pre-launch psychological warfare. Usually Kali would be preparing her escape down the hall into “her” room, where she can take refuge under the futon, turning Kinikini’s attack into a game of chase back and forth down the hall, but this time he’s positioned himself to cut off that route and it’s threatening to get serious. All the while, Kiko is observing from the relative safety of the cat tunnel.

In any case, I did intervene before the fur started flying.

More cat antics tomorrow.
