Hawaii Monitor: Safeway Overcharges – The Sequel

Stop by Civil Beat today to read the latest in my series of reports on Safeway’s overcharges.

This time I’ve focused on the company’s little known price guarantee and its value to consumers.

The very first comment is from someone who complained up to the manager of the Ewa Beach store.

The manager sure as hell didn’t tell me about the corporate overcharge policy even when she helped to handle my overcharge. Talk about deception. Auwe!

Anyway, it’s just one more building block in this still developing story.

Managers and employees of Safeway are local cheating local people with these mispricing procedures! Isn’t there a lack of integrity present in these locals?

No, don’t know what it has to do with being local. More self preservation. I bet managers would get in trouble with Safeway corporate if they get too liberal with the policy, sort of like doctors with managed medicine.

I hesitate to cry deception, when mere incompetence is far more rampant and likely.

    Regardless, caveat emptor.

Are prices different for tourists? No? Then what does being or not being “local” have to do with it?

Xenophobia rears its ugly head again.
